We have combined bioinformatics, protein engineering and our unique understanding of enzyme immobilization to develop the most stable enzymes in the industry for our customers. Role
As the Immobilization Group Lead you are empowered with leading scientific excellence in enzyme immobilization and the trust of your team to own and support the venture of creating a sustainable future powered by enzymes. Responsibilities
Leading:
- Leading the Immobilization Team function to continued success at FN in a collaborative, transparent and delivery focussed way to bolster our continued and future success.
- Instil scientific excellence through empowerment and trust whilst holding the bar high for the quality of scientific results
- Evolve our current enzyme immobilization and characterisation practices to the next level of industry-leading standards
- Leading your fellow scientists and pushing their personal and professional development through training and coaching.
Process:
- Support our automation team to help enable a fully automated immobilization platform, whilst minimising error and maximising our throughput.
In the lab:
- Support the team on the delivery of business-critical OKRs and troubleshooting where needed.
- Collaboratively design and use of DoE to optimise the best conditions for maximal performance of immobilized enzymes.
At the desk:
- Ensures excellent and timely scientific documentation for internal, external reports, processes and SOPs from the assay team.
- Ensure scientific data is quantified with high accuracy and precision, is recorded to a high standard, that is both transparent and peer-reviewed where necessary.
- Work with Data Team to capture key results that adhere to FAIR data principles and automate their analysis where possible.
Requirements
Essential:
- 5- 7 years’ experience in a wet lab environment.
- Experience in an enzyme immobilization environment in industry or as a Postdoc, including characterisation.
- Experience leading projects and small teams with multiple stakeholders and scientists.
- Experience working on medium to large scale (1m - 100mL, 100mL - 1L).
- Fluency in both technical and conversational English.
- Experience as a people manager, enhancing the growth of others (supervising the research of PhD students does not count).
Desired:
- Experience with flow reactors or STRs.
- Experience with transforming low throughput methods into high throughput.
- Enthusiasm for lab automation.
