We build software that automates control of CNC machines - metalcutting robots ( that make >$1Trn of components every year, for anything from aircraft to iPhones to cars.
Worldwide over 100 million hours are spent painstakingly programming these incredible machines by hand every year, and we believe this is a colossal waste of human time and talent in an industry already facing an existential skills crisis. Our software, CAM Assist, brings one-click automation to CNC machining.
Our world-class team, with tier 1 financial backers including Atomico, Autodesk and Lockheed Martin, combines expertise in computer science and physical manufacturing, from our locations in London and Chelmsford.
We are scaling from Series B to C at pace and are fully funded for this growth.

The Role
This is a brand new role where you will be our first hire and have a chance to set the bar for others to follow as we build a team!
This role will be focused around U.S. customers
The Business Development Manager is responsible for contacting prospects or existing customers over the phone, explaining the proposition and driving adoption of free trials, conversion to paid customers and upselling as appropriate. This role involves developing and executing sales strategies, surpassing targets for trials and driving revenue. You should possess technical knowledge, excellent communication skills, and a proven track record in sales management. In summary:
-You will be provided with warm leads and direct referrals to work with
-Following up on internal and website leads
-Explain features and benefits of our products, arranging and performing online screen sharing demonstrations as and when necessary.
-After-sales service to ensure customers are 100% satisfied
You will work with the Chief Product Officer and wider Product & Marketing team to ensure the successful creation and delivery of all sales & marketing activities to convert from free trials to paying customers, and their subsequent life cycle management including upsell.
As an experienced hands on Business Development Manager who loves building best in class experiences for our industry, you will have a real appetite for making a difference. You will have a unique opportunity to influence major decisions and direction as part of the team, helping to rapidly scale the business.

Role Duties:

  • Sales Strategy Development: Develop and implement sales strategies, playbooks and tactics to achieve revenue and sales targets for technical products or services.
  • Customer Relationship Management: Build and maintain strong customer relationships by ensuring excellent customer service and addressing customer inquiries and concerns.
  • Reporting and Analytics: Analyse sales data, generate reports, and provide insights to improve sales performance and optimise strategies.
  • Product Knowledge: Stay informed about the technical details and features of the products or services being sold to effectively communicate their value to customers.
  • Demonstrations: showcase our unique product offering through webinars, customer demo’s and related support materials
  • Compliance: Ensure that the sales team adheres to all relevant laws, regulations, and company policies.
  • Performance Tracking: Monitor and analyse the performance of marketing campaigns and initiatives, making data-driven recommendations for optimisation and ROI (Return On Investment).

Skills and Experience:

  • Proven 4+ years experience in business development or technical sales, with a track record of meeting or exceeding sales targets.
  • Comfortable working in a target driven environment. You will be highly motivated, resilient and thrive on outperforming targets
  • Demonstrable experience of :
  • Working for a high growth tech based organisation(s)
  • Knowledge/ understanding of SAAS products
  • B2B environments
  • Creating and iterating scripts.
  • Strong technical knowledge related to the products or services being sold.
  • Previous experience in a similar role.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in using sales and CRM software.
  • Analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Strong organisational and time-management skills.
  • Creative thinking and a passion for staying up-to-date with industry trends.
  • Delivery orientated.

Desirable:

  • Knowledge of manufacturing/CAD/CAM etc.
  • Passion for scale-up/start-ups and digital innovation
