Senior Mechanical Engineer
CoMind
At CoMind, we are developing a non-invasive neuromonitoring technology that will result in a new era of clinical brain monitoring. In joining us, you will be helping to create cutting-edge technologies that will improve how we diagnose and treat brain disorders, ultimately improving and saving the lives of patients across the world.
The Role:
As a Senior Mechanical Engineer, you will drive the mechanical design and development of CoMind’s neuromonitoring devices. You will take ownership of various components of the mechanical architecture, solving complex challenges related to thermal management, manufacturing processes, and precise alignment of optical, electrical, and user-facing components. Your responsibilities will span the entire product lifecycle—from prototyping to manufacturing handoff. This role will be central in implementing design controls and best practices for documentation, test planning, and data management. This job requires a minimum of 4 days per week in the office.
Responsibilities:
Lead mechanical CAD design using SolidWorks for components such as enclosures, thermal solutions, and precision alignment mechanisms for optical fibres
Perform mechanical analysis including tolerance stack-up, thermal simulation, and DFM/DFS evaluations
Administer and maintain SolidWorks PDM system and manage CAD data and version control
Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including electronics, optics, and quality, to ensure cohesive system integration and alignment
Develop and manage mechanical requirements, design documentation, and test plans in compliance with design controls
Drive supplier engagement and DFM discussions for high-quality, scalable manufacturing of mechanical components
Support environmental, vibration, and shock isolation design and testing
Own the release of mechanical drawings, BOMs, and specifications to manufacturing partners
Participate in technical design reviews, risk assessments (e.g., FMEA), and project planning activities
Provide hands-on prototyping and iterative development to de-risk design choices during early product phases
Contribute to sustaining engineering and design updates post-manufacturing transfer.
Skills & Experience:
5+ years of experience in mechanical design and product development
Strong proficiency in SolidWorks and PDM
Experience with tolerance stack-up analysis, thermal design, and mechanical simulations
Expertise in design for manufacturing and assembly (DFM/DFA) for plastic and metal enclosures
Familiarity with shock/vibration design and mechanical isolation methods
Experience with design controls, product documentation, and verification/validation processes
Understanding of optical alignment constraints and mechanical interfaces for photonics is a strong plus
Familiarity with regulatory standards (e.g., IEC 60601, ISO 10993, ASTM D4169) is a plus
Strong problem-solving and debugging skills, with hands-on experience in prototyping and testing
Excellent written and verbal communication skills with both technical and non-technical team members
-
Familiarity with project management tools such as Jira and Confluence.
