Description

Job Summary

The Commercial Finance Manager is a senior finance professional responsible for providing rigorous financial planning, analysis, reporting and commercial insight across two distinct Affinity entities — Affinity Ghana Savings & Loans Limited, the regulated digital bank, and Affinity Labs, the innovation and technology development arm. Reporting to the CEO of Affinity Ghana Savings & Loans, with a dotted line to the Group CFO, the role is the primary finance interface between the Finance function and Affinity’s business unit leaders, translating financial data into the commercial intelligence that drives confident strategic and operational decisions.

The Commercial Finance Manager owns the full financial management cycle for both entities — from period-end management accounts, board reporting, regulatory/statutory submissions and tax compliance, through to board reporting, budgeting and forecasting. The role does not sit at the back of the business processing numbers; it sits at the front, embedded in commercial conversations, challenging assumptions, stress-testing business cases and ensuring that every significant business decision is grounded in sound financial analysis.

The role may expand in the future to include direct management of Finance Associates as the function grows. The Commercial Finance Manager is expected to operate with a high degree of autonomy, exercise sound professional judgement, and represent the Finance function with credibility at senior leadership level.

About Affinity

We are an award-winning, fully fledged digital bank built in Ghana for Africa, on a mission to make banking accessible, relevant, and empowering for everyday people. By providing free bank accounts with no monthly fees and interest on all products, as well as affordable loans, Affinity drives innovation and economic growth through meaningful financial inclusion. Our goal is to bank one million Ghanaians by 2030.

Responsibilities

What You Will Do

  • Management Accounts & Board Reporting: Produce accurate, insightful and decision-ready management accounts for both Affinity Ghana Savings & Loans and Affinity Labs, and compile the financial sections of board packs that give Affinity’s board and senior leadership team full financial visibility across all operations.
  • Regulatory & Statutory Reporting — BoG: Ensure that all Bank of Ghana prudential returns, statutory financial disclosures and regulatory submissions for Affinity Ghana Savings & Loans are prepared accurately, reviewed thoroughly and filed on time — with zero material errors or late filings attributed to Finance.
  • Tax & Compliance: Manage Affinity’s tax compliance obligations across both entities — ensuring that corporate income tax, VAT, withholding tax and other statutory tax filings are prepared accurately, submitted on time and in full compliance with Ghana Revenue Authority requirements and applicable tax legislation.
  • Financial Planning & Analysis — Affinity Ghana Savings & Loans & Affinity Labs: Lead the financial planning and analysis function for both entities — building, maintaining and continuously improving the financial models, Budget/Forecasts, actuals tracking and analytical frameworks that give the CEO and senior leadership a clear, accurate and forward-looking picture of Affinity’s financial performance across its regulated banking operations and its innovation arm.
  • Commercial Partnering with Business Unit Heads: Serve as the primary finance interface for Affinity’s business unit leaders and work in active partnership with the Treasury and Settlement Team — providing the financial insight, challenge and support needed to make commercially sound decisions, manage budgets responsibly and understand the financial implications of operational choices.
  • Business Case Appraisal: Provide the financial rigour that underpins Affinity’s business decisions — evaluating business cases for new products, technology initiatives, partnerships and strategic programmes, and presenting findings to the CEO and senior leadership in a clear, objective and decision-ready format.
  • Systems, Technology & AI-Driven Efficiency: Champion the use of systems solutions, automation and artificial intelligence to drive efficiency, accuracy and scalability across Affinity’s finance processes. The Commercial Finance Manager is expected to proactively identify opportunities to leverage technology — including AI-powered tools — to reduce manual effort, improve data integrity and elevate the quality of financial outputs. The role requires comfort with large volumes of financial and operational data, and the ability to interrogate, analyse and draw commercial insight from complex datasets.

What Success Will Look Like

  • Monthly management accounts for both entities produced to the agreed format and delivered to the CEO within the period-end close timetable
  • Board pack financial sections prepared accurately and on schedule, with narrative commentary that explains performance, highlights risks and identifies opportunities
  • All BoG prudential returns — liquidity ratios, capital adequacy, income statements, balance sheets — filed accurately and by the regulatory deadline without exception
  • Statutory financial statements for Affinity Ghana Savings & Loans prepared in accordance with IFRS and submitted to the required standard for audit and regulatory review
  • All tax filings — CIT, VAT, WHT, PAYE — submitted accurately and on time for both entities across all filing periods
  • Manage Annual budget for both Affinity Ghana Savings & Loans and Affinity Labs, working collaboratively with department heads and completed within the agreed budget cycle timetable
  • Business unit heads receive accurate, timely and actionable financial information relevant to their operations on a monthly basis

  • A postgraduate qualification (MBA or equivalent) will be an added advantage

Experience

  • Minimum of 5–8 years of relevant experience in financial management, FP&A, management accounting or business partnering in a financial services, fintech or regulated environment
  • Demonstrated experience preparing management accounts, board packs and financial analyses that have directly informed senior leadership decisions
  • Proven track record of producing BoG regulatory returns and statutory financial statements in a savings and loans, universal bank or microfinance environment

  • Hands-on experience with ERP or accounting software (Sage, QuickBooks, NetSuite or equivalent) and advanced Excel or Google Sheets financial modelling
  • Exposure to a dual-entity or group finance structure — managing reporting across multiple legal entities — is an advantage
  • Experience partnering with non-finance business unit heads and communicating financial analysis to non-finance audiences at a senior level
