Head of Cell Biology
As Head of Cell Biology, you will be responsible for the technical and strategic leadership of Hoxton Farms’ upstream R&D, including development and engineering of cell lines, culture media, scaffolds and tissue engineering. Working with company leadership and our scientific advisory board, you will supervise experiments, plan project roadmaps and define the strategic direction of our cell biology. Reporting to the company founders, you’ll coordinate with our bioprocessing and food programmes to produce cultivated fat at pilot scale and meet our technical milestones before series B.
This is an opportunity to lead a talented, enthusiastic and diverse team while playing a huge role in shaping the future of the cellular agriculture industry.
You should be a highly experienced stem cell biologist or tissue engineer familiar with hiring scientists, managing projects and building scientific strategy in a commercial setting. This is a fully in-person role at our new London HQ. We are willing to support international relocation.
You should have:
- 5-8 years’ experience post-PhD including biotech industry experience
- deep technical expertise in tissue engineering
- experience building and leading a team, managing a multidisciplinary technical roadmap and setting long-term cross-functional R&D strategy
Ideally you'll have experience in some, but not necessarily all, of the following areas:
- adult stem cell biology, cell line development and banking, genome engineering and cell culture scale-up
- startup experience (series A or later) highly preferred
