We're looking for Cell Culture Technicians to join our awesome team.

Your experience with mammalian tissue culture will make you an essential member of our technical team. You will conduct routine tissue culture, high-throughput screenings, media optimisation for stem cell expansion and differentiation, bioprocess development and cell banking alongside a brilliant group of scientists, engineers and technicians, supporting our journey towards large-scale production of cultivated fat.

At every step, you will play a huge role in shaping the future of food.

We are hiring for multiple positions at different levels of seniority. Apply with your experience details, and we'll match you with the opportunity that is the best fit.

As a member of our R&D team, you will perform critical cell culture experiments and ensure the smooth day-to-day running of tissue culture at Hoxton Farms. You will spend your time in our brand new tissue culture lab, supporting our entire cell-line development workflow from cells to Master Cell Bank creation and bioprocess optimisation. You’ll develop expertise with cutting-edge equipment and analytical techniques in a lab that combines tissue culture with food science. Depending on your technical skills and project fit, we’re looking for talent to execute on the following projects:

  • Routine cell culture and cryopreservation
  • Cell line development in adherent and suspension cultures to improve efficiencies of proliferation and differentiation
  • Creation and release testing of Master and Working Cell Banks
  • Optimisation and testing media formulations for use in a wide range of culture systems, including adherent and suspension cultures
  • Bioprocess development to optimise cell density of mammalian cells in suspension cultures
  • Implementation of cell-based assays and validation of media components using high-throughput techniques

You should have at least one year’s experience (or at least 2 years' experience for more senior positions) working in a mammalian tissue culture laboratory within academia or industry, including some of the following:

  • An undergraduate degree (or equivalent experience in industry) in life sciences or a related discipline
  • GLP- or GMP-compliant tissue culture techniques
  • Cell bank creation and testing
  • Single cell cloning of mammalian cells
  • Cell line development workflows, including cell screening for defined outputs
  • Mammalian stem cell culture and differentiation
  • Hands-on experience with mammalian suspension cultures in shake flasks, spinner vessels, stirred-tank vessels or other bioreactor formats
  • Process optimisation to improve cell density and/or differentiation of mammalian cells
  • Enthusiasm, curiosity and attention to detail

Experience in any of these additional areas is considered a plus:

  • ATMP R&D or manufacture
  • Sterile culture media preparation
  • Generation of Master Cell Banks and Working Cell Banks in adherent and/or suspension cultures
  • Laboratory automation
  • High-throughput imaging, flow cytometry and cell sorting
  • Primary cell culture
  • Suspension culture
  • Media development and bioprocessing
  • Tissue engineering, particularly for 3D approaches
  • Lab inventory management
  • ELN/LIMS
