Posted on Jun 27, 2025

We're looking for a Head of People to join our awesome team.

Your experience in People & Culture will make you an essential member of our team. You’ll be the most senior People leader at Hoxton Farms, responsible for both day-to-day delivery and long-term vision. From strategy to execution, you’ll work closely with the leadership team to shape our people systems, champion culture and enable every team member to thrive.

As our Head of People, you will be responsible for scaling and improving every part of our people experience: from hiring and onboarding to performance, progression, L&D, and offboarding. You’ll guide the team through growth, lead on cultural strategy and ensure we’re building a high-performing environment.

Be part of our team in person. This role is five days a week onsite.

About Hoxton Farms:

Hoxton Farms grow cultivated pork fat, a healthy and delicious ingredient for the food industry. Cofounded in 2020 by Max Jamilly and Ed Steele, we are building the world's most scalable and cost-effective tech stack for mammalian cell biomanufacturing – and we’re monetising it with a premium B2B ingredient. Hoxton Farms are a team of 50 based in London. We have raised from investors including Founders Fund, Collab Fund, FSV/F-Prime and Global Brain.

  • Healthy fats. B2B cultivated fat is fast to market and will dominate a premium niche. Compared to traditional fat, cultivated pork fat is healthier and more scalable. Hoxton Farms have commercial traction with meat/CPG companies including some of the largest food companies in Asia.

  • Cost and scale. Hoxton Farms have patented scalable, low-cost, high-yield bioreactors for mammalian stem cells. We opened a pilot production facility in London in 2023.

  • Team. Hoxton Farms have a brilliant and friendly team including world-class talent from the cultivated meat, biotech and engineering industries – all under one roof in central London.

You should have:

  • Experience leading (or playing a key leadership role in) the People function within a startup or scaleup environment

  • Experience building lean people systems from scratch or scaling them as a company grows

  • Experience in talent or recruitment operations

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Experience leading L&D, internal comms or company-wide engagement work

  • Experience managing people budgets and partnering with finance on headcount planning, compensation and people-related spend

  • Familiarity switching between strategic thinking and hands-on implementation

  • Strong task triage and delegation skills

  • Experience supporting the development of strong people managers

  • Experience managing payroll

  • Strong knowledge of UK employment law, compliance and HR best practices

  • The ability to act as a thought partner to the leadership team on people issues

Ideally you'll have experience in some, but not necessarily all, of the following areas:

  • Career framework design, compensation benchmarking and progression planning

  • Managing a small People or Talent team (e.g. 2–4 people)

  • Scaling from Series A to B or from 50 to 100+ people

  • The biotech industry, or working closely with technical teams

The benefits:

📈 Stock option plan

🏛️ Brand new lab and office in Old Street

🏡 Pension plan (matching up to 5% + salary sacrifice)

🏖️ 25 days' holiday + bank holidays

🚑 Private health insurance
